Service 01

Content Development & Storytelling

Every organization has a story worth telling. The difference between being heard and being ignored is how it's told.

What I Do

I develop content strategies and original written content for organizations that need to communicate with authority — whether that means a single flagship report, an ongoing editorial series, or a full content ecosystem. My work spans industries, audiences, and formats, but the through-line is always the same: clarity, credibility, and resonance.

I've written for government agencies, national nonprofits, academic institutions, and global media brands. That breadth means I know how to adapt tone and voice without losing authenticity — and how to make even complex, policy-heavy content feel accessible and compelling.

What's Included

  • Editorial strategy and content planning for campaigns, newsletters, and publication series
  • Feature writing, long-form journalism, and reported articles for institutional and media clients
  • Annual reports, impact reports, and donor communications for nonprofits
  • Executive ghostwriting, op-eds, and thought leadership content
  • Newsletter production — sourcing, interviewing, writing, and editorial management
  • Content audits and messaging strategy for organizations redefining their voice

My Approach

I start with a listening phase — understanding your audience, your institutional voice, and the specific outcome you're trying to achieve. From there, I develop a content brief before writing a single word. The goal is never content for content's sake. Every piece should move your audience toward a specific belief, action, or relationship with your organization.

I've produced the U.S. Government's Trafficking in Persons Report for four consecutive years — the world's most comprehensive resource on governmental anti-trafficking efforts. That kind of work demands both precision and persuasion, which is the standard I apply to every engagement.

Service 02

Brand Strategy & Digital Presence

A brand isn't a logo. It's the sum of every impression you make — and the promise you keep across all of them.

What I Do

I help organizations define who they are, what they stand for, and how to communicate that consistently across every touchpoint — from their website to their advertising to the way their team talks about what they do. Brand strategy is the foundation that makes all your other marketing investments actually work.

My background in advertising account management at Charles Schwab gave me a rigorous foundation in integrated brand campaigns. My years as an independent consultant have sharpened my instinct for what works for organizations that are building — not just maintaining — a brand identity.

What's Included

  • Brand audits — assessing your current positioning, messaging consistency, and audience perception
  • Brand identity development — positioning statements, messaging frameworks, and tone-of-voice guides
  • Website strategy and copywriting — architecture, page hierarchy, and conversion-focused copy
  • Integrated campaign development across digital, print, radio, and social channels
  • Social media strategy, content calendars, and platform voice development
  • Brand launch and relaunch support for startups and evolving organizations

My Approach

Strong brand work starts with honest diagnosis. Before recommending anything, I spend time understanding what your audience actually thinks of you — which is often different from what you think they think. That gap is where the most important brand work lives.

At Schwab, I led campaigns for African-American marketing initiatives, international launches in Hong Kong and the Cayman Islands, and co-branded digital projects — all requiring alignment across teams, stakeholders, and markets. That experience informs how I think about brand consistency at scale, not just at the campaign level.

Service 03

Public Relations & Media Promotions

Earned media is the most credible kind. I help organizations get it — and make it count.

What I Do

I manage media relationships, craft pitches, place stories, and develop promotional strategies that drive real coverage for organizations and events. My work spans traditional media — print, radio, television — and digital channels, with a particular strength in building the kind of sustained media presence that compounds over time.

What sets my PR practice apart is that I know media from both sides. I've been a recurring guest on ABC's Washington DC affiliate WJLA and WVON 1690AM Radio. I've hosted over 170 podcast episodes. I've been featured in USA Today and MSNBC national series. That means I know what journalists and producers actually want — and how to give it to them.

What's Included

  • Media relations — pitching, placement, and ongoing relationship management with journalists and producers
  • Event promotions — generating press coverage for productions, launches, and community events
  • Executive media training and spokesperson preparation
  • Press kit development — bios, backgrounders, press releases, and media assets
  • Social media audience development and community management strategy
  • Podcast strategy, production support, and guest outreach

My Approach

The best PR is built on relationships, not cold pitches. I invest in understanding the beat reporters, producers, and editors who cover your space — and I build relationships with them before I need a favor. When a story moment arrives, that preparation pays off.

I managed promotions for the Duke Ellington School of the Arts, landing their student production as the cover story of The Washington Post Magazine's Annual Education Edition — alongside coverage on public radio and in multiple periodicals. That kind of result requires creative story angles, strong relationships, and flawless follow-through. That's the standard I bring to every client.

Storyteller.

I'm Mia M. Jackson — a Washington, DC-based marketing and communications leader with over twenty years of experience helping organizations find their voice and make it matter.

My career has taken me from a Stanford-founded nonprofit in California to the halls of the U.S. Department of State, from the advertising offices of Charles Schwab to the media studios of MSNBC and ABC. That breadth isn't accidental — it's the foundation of what I offer every client.

I founded Doro Marketing Services to bring senior-level strategic thinking to organizations that need it most: mission-driven nonprofits, growth-stage companies, and national institutions navigating moments of change.
